Fosforesta
Personal project in which roles include creating match map and Photography.
“Fosforesta” is a contemporary photography series that communicates the topic of deforestation in Guatemala. Guatemala is a country with beautiful natural Resources, one of them being the Mayan Rainforest (Selva Maya) which is home to immense biodiversity and the largest tropical rainforest north to the Amazon. Sadly, there is a lot of deforestation going on in the country which affects the conservation of the forest.
1,000 green tip matches where used to create the map of Guatemala that where later light up with the intension of capturing the dramatic moment. The series shows the different phases of the map. the match box, the match map, the map on fire, the ashes of the map and at the end a poetic reflection of the issue (the one showcased in this post)
Photograph has been chosen to be the cover photo for the publication “Prisma Vol II” @lafototeca, and has been exhibited in Museum of Art Guatemala (MAG), Contemporary Photography School “La Fototeca” and Universidad Veritas located in Costa Rica.
