My roles for this projects include team work for concept of the app, and Graphic Design.
The concept for this project was created during the Marymount University and Melwood sponsored Design-a-thon 2020: Neurodiversity at Work.
As a graphic designer, I had the opportunity to collaborate with neurodivergent Melwood participants, who came up with the idea for Smart Alek. An app that assists neurodivergent users in locating physical spaces that meet their specific needs. Spaces for focusing, re-charging or finding a community to collaborate with.
The design relies on curved shapes to give a sense of comfort and a safe environment. Green is used to symbolize safe and refreshing spaces. Fonts and sizes of words and icons are easy to comprehend and in keeping with neurodivergent standers. The three sliders at the top of the app measure how much light, noice and open space the user wants for the ideal space.
